Westfries Museum, Holland.

Toy Theatres

For over 150 years the toy theatre has been a source of enjoyment that has inspired and created a unique form of art.

Cosprop’s collection consists of both original and reproduction toy theatres from the middle of the 19th century through to the late 20th century. It includes fine examples of J. Redington’s the Large Theatre and The Neptune Theatre, from Imagerie Pellerin the Grand Theatre, Opera as well as Pollock’s Regency Theatre of 1946. The theatres are displayed with a wide variety of scenery and character sheets including favourites such as Webb’s scenes from Harlequin Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, The Sleeping Beauty, Sinbad The Sailor and Sherlock Holmes – The Hound of the Baskervilles.

The exhibition can be adapted to fit
most venues and comes complete with installation instructions and label information. The theatres can be on open display in a protected environment with low level lighting.
